For generations, Minnesotans have purchased their irons to bake Krumkakes from local manufacturer Nordic Ware in St Louis Park. Italian Pizzelles are also baked on the top of the stove using an iron, but are a flat, anise-flavored cookie or they also may be flavored with vanilla. The chewy, almond Swedish Sandbakkelse are delicate golden brown in color and are baked in tiny tins to resemble tarts. Finally, we will master deep fried Rosettes – the exceedingly fragile, paper thin Scandinavian delicacies dusted with confectioners’ sugar. Expect great recipes plus the many tips and techniques that will make your baking a success! No prior experience is required. Structured as an 8-session seasonal block, the program uses targeted vocabulary and active, practical exercises to develop basic communication skills from day one. Course Content SummaryThis course introduces students to foundational vocabulary and basic conversational tools across seven engaging sessions. Students begin by practicing essential greetings and sketching two people meeting. They then transition to exploring colors like red, yellow, green, and orange, and writing numbers 1 through 10 using drawn shapes or fruits to connect digits with visual quantities. As the term progresses, lessons focus on labeling everyday classroom objects, describing favorite animals, and naming a variety of healthy fruits. In the final instructional week, students practice identifying and drawing their immediate family members, including parents and grandparents.
