WaitlistWayzata Mountain Bike TeamSports and FitnessLike adrenaline? Like adventure? Join the Co-Ed Wayzata Mountain Bike Team. It's open to students entering 6th-12th grade. Beginners through advanced mountain bikers are welcome. Regular season practices start the week of July 13. The season runs through October. A cross-country mountain bike and helmet are required. Registration timeline: Returning riders- April 1 - 14New riders (if there is space available)- April 14 - May 31 Practice dates and locations are subject to change throughout the season due to weather and trail conditions. Refer to TeamSnap or coaches emails for up to date information on practice dates and locations. Practice locations vary and may include schools, parks and local trailheads, including Lake Rebecca, Elm Creek, and Theodore Wirth Park. Check TeamSnap each day for updates on trail conditions and practice locations. Participants provide their own bike, helmet and transportation. New participants need to purchase a Wayzata team jersey for competitions (Approx. $60). Minnesota High School Cycling League membership and insurance are required, for an additional fee of approximately $100. Race series fees are also additional. Team racers compete in 4 or 5 races throughout the state from August through October. Minnesota Cycling League race fees are as follows: April 1 – May 15: $50 per race / $150 Superpass May 16 – July 1: $55 per race / $160 Superpass July 2 – August 1: $60 per race / $170 Superpass All passes must be purchased by August 1, whether it's individual or superpass. **See MCA website for most up to date pricing and details. After registering with Wayzata Community Education, you will receive an email invitation from the Coach to register with the Minnesota Cycling Association (https://ccnbikes.com/#!/memberships/minnesota-cycling-association). Registering with Minnesota Cycling Association and signing the waiver is a requirement of team participation. Families will also receive an email invitation to join Team Snap. Joining Team Snap and keeping your information updated is important, as this is the primary way that coaches communicate with families. Coaches will contact families after registration with schedules and information. Questions call 763-745-5200. Next Steps After Registration: After registering with Wayzata Community Ed, families will receive an email invitation from the Coach to register with the Minnesota Cycling Association (https://ccnbikes.com/#!/memberships/minnesota-cycling-association). Registering with Minnesota Cycling Association and signing the waiver is a requirement of team participation Next, race registration can be done for each race individually through August 15 or all 5 races for a discount (discount ends on August 1). Race registration is done through Minnesota Cycling Association. If you’re unsure about racing, we will provide guidance in our new / prospective rider orientation meeting at Wayzata High School, on May 7 from 7:30 - 8:30 PM, room B204. Families will also receive an email invitation to join TeamSnap. This is our primary method of team communication. Please follow that link to register, including cell phone numbers to receive text messages. If you are a returning team member please update your TeamSnap profile for the new season. This Youth Enrichment League (YEL) class educates students on the use of basic tools (hammers, nails, screwdriver, measuring tape, t-square and more). SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY.
