Bicycle Repair and RebuildingSpecial InterestsStudents in this class will learn all aspects of repairing and rebuilding bikes including gears, brakes, wheel truing and re-greasing. Demonstrations will be done on bikes supplied by the instructor. Basic physics will be explained in the demonstration, including simple machines, gears, levers, and mechanical advantage. Students will work on bikes donated by local police departments and be able to keep the bikes and bring them home after class! The instructor will provide all tools and cleaning materials. Some spare parts will be available for student use. If students wish to buy parts for their bikes, parents can purchase parts on their own or from the instructor at wholesale prices. Camp FUNdamentalsSpecial InterestsCamp FUNdamentals is a therapeutic day camp program for kids of ALL abilities, supported by a pediatric occupational therapist. Campers work on skill building in the areas of motor skills, emotional regulation and social connection through FUN, nature-based activities. Campers are supported with a staffing ratio of 1:3. Sweet Treats without HeatSpecial InterestsFocus on kitchen skills, creativity, and food safety - without using an oven or stove. Kids will learn basic kitchen skills like measuring, mixing, and following a recipe while creating delicious no-bake treats such as energy bites, cookies, yogurt parfaits, and overnight oats. All of the recipes will feature whole foods with minimal ingredients. Students will bring some of their creations home. Day of: We will eat our goodies as a snack.
