Adult First SailSpecial InterestFirst Sail Adventure A fun first introductory single evening sailing lesson, for adults, in a small group setting (1 Instructor : 3 students). Learn the basics and experience the excitement of sailing on Lake Minnetonka! Lessons begin with sailing basics ashore, followed by hands-on instruction with one of Wayzata Sailing's certified instructors. Skills include basic tiller steering, points of sail, and sail trim. Dress appropriately for the weather and outdoors. Personal flotation device and boat provided. Ages 15+. Bike Trailside and Home Repair/MaintenanceSpecial InterestThis 3-hour class will build from the basics to more advanced. Many of your bike issues can be solved in this class! Major focus will be on identification of bicycle parts, trailside repair, shifting adjustments, brake adjustments, chain maintenance, how to repair/replace a tube (flat tire), how to safety check your bike. If time allows, we will also learn basic wheel truing, replacing a chain, how to replace brake and shifting cables. Please bring a bike. Especially one that need work! Defensive Driving 55+Special InterestStarting SoonSave money on your car insurance premiums and become a better driver! Minnesota law requires insurance companies to offer you a 10% reduction for three years if you complete this National Safety Council's Defensive Driving course. The course is one session of classroom instruction - no driving or test is required. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. Attendance is required to receive your certificate. Bring your driver's license with you to class. The instructor is certified through the MN Safety Council. This class is for both new and returning students. Online classes will take place on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You will need to pick up your materials at the Community Ed office at 17340 County Rd 6, Plymouth, MN 55447 a few days prior to class (wait to pick up until you are notified). Heartsaver® CPR AED CertificationSpecial InterestThe Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to give CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). The AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Registration includes a certification card and CPR/First Aid Manual. Intro to Trout Fishing - Live on the StreamSpecial InterestThis five-hour, live fly fishing class on a trout stream begins with a one-hour introduction covering gear, flies, rigging, and knots. You will then receive fly-casting lessons on both dry ground and in the river. Finally, you will put on waders and boots to fish for trout under the watchful eye of your guide and instructor, Scott Harness. All equipment is supplied. This class will take place at either Kinnickinnic or Rush River in Wisconsin, which are about 1-1.5 hours away from the Twin Cities. More details will be sent to registered participants closer to the start date. *A 1-day Wisconsin fishing license and trout stamp will need to be purchased prior to class for approximately $25.
