Math-by-Mail is expanding its options to do math! How exciting! We continue to serve upper elementary through 9th grade. Not only are we offering our predetermined set of 8 packets, we will also offer an ala carte menu! Our added approach allows for individual choice regarding the skills and concepts students and parents can request to build math confidence. Still an 8 week course with a self paced approach! Student completed packets should be mailed (USPS) to Math-by-Mail. We will then provide feedback and return corrected packets to students via USPS. As always the goal of Math-by-Mail is to provide rich content to maintain mathematical understanding! **All packets are due back by August 14 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2026 school year begins. Discover the world of 3D design and printing with TinkerCAD in this creative, hands-on camp. Students will develop 3D modeling skills while designing a custom pendant, unique dice, and other Dungeons & Dragons–inspired projects. When not actively designing, campers can join themed challenges and games that extend their creativity while waiting for prints to finish. Each participant will have a pendant or keychain and a die printed and sent home at the end of camp. All printing and material fees are included. Students should bring a USB drive on the final day.

Bring your favorite video game worlds to life by creating Nintendo-inspired characters with TinkerCAD while learning essential 3D design skills. Students will model unique creations in three dimensions, experiment with shapes and structures, and transform their digital ideas into real objects using 3D printers. Join a Naturalist from EcoElsa to learn how to conduct different animal surveys and experiments. Kids will learn how to observe different animals and collect data about them and their habitats as well as how to report that data as a “citizen scientist.” Camp will include getting to interact with a wide variety of plants and small wildlife like insects, amphibians, snakes, and birds as well as using different scientist tools to do their research and exploring. Make sure to dress for the weather, closed-toed shoes and preferably long pants as most of the class will be spent outdoors and off trail in some areas!

Get ready to take charge in this action-packed coding camp! Students will design and program their own Tower Defense–style game while learning the fundamentals of programming. Using Construct 3, a visual coding platform, they’ll explore how game frameworks work and practice coding concepts such as variables, events, conditions, and loops. Campers will create paths, position defensive towers, and program waves of enemies to challenge their defenses. Along the way, they will experiment with mechanics, adjust difficulty, and bring their games to life. Bring a USB on the last day to save your games.

Students work with an instructor from Urban Boatbuilders on two woodworking projects they can take home: A passive amplifier for your phone, and a Cuban box drum or Cajon. These hands-on projects build measuring, cutting, drilling, woodburning and finishing skills while encouraging problem-solving, communication, and cooperation. Hand tools are emphasized. Use of power tools is limited and supervised.

Kids will take their fire skills to the next level by not only learning how to make fire and different fire structures but the science of using fire to cook things too! This class will teach all the basics like s’mores and tinfoil packets up to more advanced skills like dutch oven baking and spit roasting over the fire. Your campfire chefs will know how to make full course meals by the end of this class in addition to how to make a fire and manage it safely. Additionally, if your site allows it and there are things in season we may also do some foraging for some of the recipes too! We are working hard to have recipes for all dietary needs that are things kids will enjoy cooking and will be using a lot of raw and unprocessed ingredients and also have vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options for most of the recipes we make. Please let us know if your child has dietary needs beyond this and we will work with you to make alterations when possible!
