Greenwood Jumpstart to KGeneral Misc.Jumpstart to K is an engaging introduction to your Rising Kindergartner's future elementary school. This brief yet impactful experience aims to familiarize children with the school to help a smooth transition into kindergarten. Greenwood teachers lead Jumpstart to K, and while the teacher your Rising K student meets for this program may not be their classroom teacher for Kindergarten, they will be another familiar, friendly face during the transition. This program is designed to be interactive and fun. Throughout the morning or afternoon, your Rising K student will engage in a series of interactive activities and guided experiences aimed at building confidence and enthusiasm for the kindergarten classroom. From a brief introduction to school rules and routines to navigating common areas such as the classroom, cafeteria, and playground, students will gain an understanding of what to expect in their new school environment. Jumpstart to K allows children another opportunity in their future school in a supportive and nurturing environment for this exciting milestone. Please note that Jumpstart to K is a drop-off program. Join Chef Tess in one of her newest hands-on cook-along experiences where you will learn how to make delicate pasta dough from scratch, then roll, fill and shape your own tortellini with scratch made fillings. We’ll begin by preparing a rich, creamy three-cheese filling which becomes the foundation for two delicious variations: a savory mushroom and 3-cheese filling bursting with umami (with the option to substitute spinach for the mushrooms), and a hearty Italian sausage and 3-cheese filling for those who prefer a more robust option. Chef Tess will guide you through the process of stuffing and shaping the tortellini step-by-step then cooking them to perfection with a velvety scratch-made cream sauce for a truly authentic experience. Regardless of your culinary background, this class will empower you with the artistry and assurance to create exquisite, homemade tortellini that delight every time. Equipment Needs: An inexpensive pasta roller is highly recommended but not required. A stand-mixer for the dough, and a food processor for the meat filling are also recommended but not required. In this workshop, you will learn: my famous ‘10 Minute Miracle Exercise’ series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density; decrease 2 inches off saddlebag area in 2 weeks; trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight; breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism; acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have time, money, or inclination to haul yourself to a gym, you will love these powerful and effective techniques. NewHoliday Cookie Workshop: Royal Icing & Bakery Black & White CookiesFood & DrinkStep into a sweet winter wonderland in this joyful holiday cookie workshop. Back by popular demand is Tess’ Holiday Cookie Bake & Decorate class, where participants learn the foundations of decorating cookies with Royal Icing—now paired with a bakery-style favorite called Black-and-White Cookies—half-way between a cake and a cookie, and covered with glossy chocolate and vanilla ganache-style icing on top. If you’re looking to start a new holiday tradition and add a truly special cookie to your repertoire, this festive family-friendly class is for you. Gather your family for a fun baking experience or enjoy a little creative time for yourself. Participants will bake their own sugar cookies ahead of time so they are ready to decorate at the start of class. A PDF with two of the instructor’s personal sugar cookie recipes—one soft and chewy, one crisp—along with a full list of ingredients and supplies for Royal Icing will be provided roughly 5 days before class to allow time for shopping and baking. Choose to bake one or the other or both using cookie festive cutters of choice. Proper techniques discussed for stripping wire, attaching to outlets, switches and light fixtures, as well as test equipment. We will compare different light bulbs and proper selection of LED light bulbs. Bring straight and Phillips screwdrivers, long nose pliers and wire stripping pliers to class if you have them. Handouts included with the class. Week 2: Continue learning about home electrical repair by attending this “hands-on” class. Prerequisite: Basic Home Electrical Repair Class I. You will install single pole and 3-way switches, outlets and light fixtures to energize a light bulb and test the circuit. We will discuss proper installation of different light fixtures and ceiling fan and how to rewire a lamp and repair extension cords.
