Families Learning TogetherFamily Activities & Parent ClassesEarly Learning School would like to invite you to discuss some topics that may be heavy on your mind, allow you to ask the burning parenting questions, and create a community with other parents just like you! Join one or all the sessions to hear what the experts are saying and engage in discussion with a licensed Parent Educator. There will be 8 sessions offered, 9:00am-10:00am. See below for dates and descriptions. We look forward to having you join us! February 9, 2026 – The Developing Brain: Let’s learn about the fabulous development of a preschooler’s brain. What is happening at this stage of development? What can you expect? And how can you support growth? February 23, 2026 – Social Emotional Development: Do you ever wonder how to help your child with big feelings? We will discuss best practices to encourage an emotional vocabulary, calming techniques and ways to navigate the stress big feelings can bring. March 9, 2026 – Early Literacy Development: Curious about expectations? Let’s talk about what is developmentally appropriate and how to give your children guidance to meet goals. March 23, 2026 – Screen Use and Media Engagement: No TV, some TV, no screen use, some screen use, what is appropriate content? These are all swirling around our parent brains and there is much conflict with advice. We will break it all down together and find a practice we can live with. April 13, 2026 – Discipline with a Purpose: Discipline means “to teach”. We will discuss guiding behaviors and discover tools we can put in our parenting toolboxes to promote cooperation. April 27, 2026 – Nutrition: Nutrition is more than just what we eat, it is also about the practices we are putting in place as to how we eat. We will discuss the advice from family therapist, dietician, and author Ellyn Satter, as well as guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics. May 11, 2026 – Temperament: Discover your child’s innate way of being and how you can deliver the best care suited for their temperament. June 1, 2026 – Basic Needs: Basic Needs is a way of addressing behavior and the future in Wayzata schools. Learn how behavior is addressed and guided in classrooms while being a partner at home. **Please note that sibling care is not available during this class.2025-2026 ECFE School Year -
Family Play TimeFamily Activities & Parent ClassesFamily Playtime (0-5 years by September 1, 2025) Non-separating Welcome to Family Playtime, an inclusive Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) class for families with children from birth to kindergarten entrance. In this class, children and caregivers stay together, creating a warm and collaborative environment for the entire family. Enjoy a variety of play-based activities that promote development across all age groups, from sensory play for infants to creative projects for preschoolers. Engage in music, stories, and interactive play that support social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Caregivers will have the opportunity to connect with others and gain insights from experienced educators on topics relevant to parenting and child development. Wayzata Schools is offering free parenting consultation to all families with young children (under kindergarten age).Parent coaching is availble on a variety of topices and current information on community and district resources.
