Jr. Engineering/STEM Club - Session 1

Jump into an exciting new school year with all-new lessons! Whether you're a new or returning student, the Engineering for Kids Jr. Engineering/STEM Club offers hands-on, engaging activities each week to spark curiosity and creativity. Students will explore engineering concepts while developing essential 21st-century skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork - building confidence to tackle challenges in and out of the classroom. Session 1 Lessons: 
Aerospace Engineering: Stunt Plane - Students learn about the science of flight and design their own glider. 
Acoustic Engineering: String Telephone - Students explore how sound travels by creating and testing their own string telephone.
Mechanical Engineering: Pyramid Slingshot - Students explore potential and kinetic energy as they design and build a simple pyramid-style slingshot.
Coding Unplugged: Binary Bracelets - Students learn how information is represented so that computers can interpret and store it, then create a simple binary bracelet.
Environmental Engineering: Bug in a Web - Students learn how spiders use their webs to catch bugs in nature, then build a simple bug-in-a-web model inspired by how real webs work.
Electrical Engineering: Magnet Maze - Students learn about magnets, their properties, and how they are used in navigation tools like compasses, then create their own magnet-guided maze.
